Very pretty figural petit point done in an extremely fine micro stitch.
The design is of a lady with a fan being serenaded by a gentleman
wearing a cape, playing a musical instrument. They are in a garden
setting by a river surrounded by trees and flowers. In the background
you can see an arbor, a lantern and a gondola in the river. In the
foreground is a fountain with two little cherubs. The design and a
floral border are the same on both sides. The frame is done in gold and
silver etched metal and the clasp on the top is an openwork floral
pattern. Inside the purse is lined with white kid leather that is
lightly stained all over from use. The purse measures 6 ½” by 5 ½” and
the chain handle is 12”. The overall condition is very good with very
mild wear to a couple of the bottom corners and a small barely
detectable hole under one of the hinges.
